Genesis 3:14
וַ יֹּאמֶר יְהֹוָה אֶלֹהִים אֶל הַ נָּחָשׁ כִּי עָשִׂיתָ זֹּאת אָרוּר אַתָּה מִ כָּל הַ בְּהֵמָה וּ מִ כֹּל חַיַּת הַ שָּׂדֶה עַל גְּחֹנְךָ תֵלֵךְ וְ עָפָר תֹּאכַל כָּל יְמֵי חַיֶּיךָ
And Yahweh is saying, "Elohim, toward the Serpent, for you have made this one, he-who-is-cursed128 is yourself from the whole of the Behemah, and from the whole of the living-one of the Field. Upon your curve [gachon]129 you are walking,130 and a dust you are eating, the whole of the days of your living-ones.

This is the concrete word for walking in the Hebrew Scriptures. “the Yahweh elohim walking in the enclosure” Gen 3:8, “And Narrow walked with the Elohim” Gen. 5:22, “Rest walked with the Elohim” Gen. 6:9, etc. Did the serpent lose his legs? How do you interpret it? A dragon is a serpent with legs. There are quite a few reptiles that “walk” on their bellies as well. |
