619 | The Nemalim The Nemalim הנמלים (#5244) means the cut-short ones (ants). This is 2nd masculine plural Niphal of the root verb muwl (#4135) to be clipped short, cut around. (cf. the 2nd masculine plural Qal form מלתם in Deut. 10:16) The Nemalim are mentioned in Proverbs 6:6 and 30:25 where it is understood as “ants” (Arabic cognate) even though the Proverb says they are a people: “the Nemalim, a people not mighty, and they are standing-upright within the Harvest (#7019) of the bread-loaf of themselves” Proverbs 30:25 literal |
