Genesis 31:10
וַ יְהִי בְּ עֵת יַחֵם הַ צֹּאן וָ אֶשָּׂא עֵינַי וָ אֵרֶא בַּ חֲלֹום וְ הִנֵּה הָ עַתֻּדִים הָ עֹלִים עַל הַ צֹּאן עֲקֻדִּים נְקֻדִּים וּ בְרֻדִּים
`And he is becoming in the time of the Sheep heating, and I am lifting up my eyes and seeing in the Bonded-one,997 and behold, the Ascending Chiefs998 upon the Sheep, are banded,999 marked, and spotted.1000
| 998 | Hebrew ha-atudim ha-olim. Chief, ram. (figuratively) leaders of the people – chief. The presence of definite articles to the noun and verb participle yield a definite label or identification, i.e. the Ascending Chiefs or the Ascending Male-Goats. Olim, ascending, is the participle of alah (Strong’s 5927) means to go up, ascend, climb. |
