Genesis 28:12
וַ יַּחֲלֹם וְ הִנֵּה סֻלָּם מֻצָּב אַרְצָה וְ רֹאשֹׁו מַגִּיעַ הַ שָּׁמָיְמָה וְ הִנֵּה מַלְאֲכֵי אֶלֹהִים עֹלִים וְ יֹרְדִים בֹּו
And he is dreaming:931 and behold a casting-up-one932 is him-being-made-to-stand-firm earth-ward, and his shaking-one is him-touching the Dual-Heavens-ward. And behold, messengers of elohim are those-ascending and those-descending in himself.933
| 931 | Dreaming Strong’s #2492, chalam. The primary meaning is to be bound together, tied together. Cf. Gesenius, Fuerst. It will be seen later in the “dreams” of Gen. 40-41 that the word “interpretation” is from a word that literally means to divide. Thus it seems there is a strong correlation in the literal meanings behind the traditional renderings. |
