Genesis 2:5
And every conversing/musing one of the Field is before he is becoming in the Earth, and the every herb of the Field is before he sprouts,60 for Yahweh elohim has not caused to rain upon the Earth,60b and a red-one is not, to serve אֶת-the Red-one.
Footnote:
60b | Hebrew כי לא המטיר יהוה אלהים. For he has not rained yahweh elohim upon the earth.... The tradition in what is called the "Yahwist Narrative" of Genesis 2 says "Yahweh elohim" here refers to a more formal name. This is the first appearance of the words together. The Hiphil causative form of "to rain" lacks any object being rained. Caused to rain what? Perhaps it doesn't matter, or perhaps it does, as in Genesis 19:24 where he "causes to rain brimstone"... Brimstone is not water. |
