Genesis 18:8

וַ יִּקַּח חֶמְאָה וְ חָלָב וּ בֶן הַ בָּקָר אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה וַ יִּתֵּן לִ פְנֵיהֶם וְ הוּא עֹמֵד עֲלֵיהֶם תַּחַת הָ עֵץ וַ יֹּאכֵלוּ

And he is taking curd and milk-fat,635 and the builder of the Ploughing-one which he has made and is giving to their faces, and himself set-upright636 upon them underneath the Wood, and they are eating.

Strong’s #5975, amad. To prop up, station, fix upright. Hence the conjecture of “taking one’s stand”. The word is used of a pillar in cognate languages like Arabic, Ethiopic, Syriac.

and the standing-places which he has built in-them high places, and set-upright Asherim [or straight-ones]…” 2 Chron. 33:19 literal

And you have made the Boards for the Laying-place, woods of acacias, those-who-are-set-upright.” Exodus 26:15 literal
