Genesis 16:12
וְ הוּא יִהְיֶה פֶּרֶא אָדָם יָדֹו בַ כֹּל וְ יַד כֹּל בֹּו וְ עַל פְּנֵי כָל אֶחָיו יִשְׁכֹּן
And himself he is becoming a swift-one605 of Red-one, his hand is in the Whole,606 and a hand of the whole is in-him—and upon the faces of the whole of his brothers he is dwelling.`607
| 606 | Hebrew בַכֹּ֔ל, ba-kol. Definite article gives this a specific identity. The Whole. The “hand” is in the “middle” of the Whole. Likely the “right hand” since a left “hand” is never named in the scriptures. If the preposition “in” can be interpreted as “against” as scholars have said, then we would read his hand is against the whole, and the hand of the whole is against him. |
