Genesis 1:7
And he is making elohim אֶת-the pounded-space, and he is dividing between the Dual-Waters which is from underneath to the pounded-space and between the Dual-Waters which is from above to the pounded-space,18b and he is becoming an upright.19
Footnote:
19 | Strong’s #3651, ken. Upright, firm, erect, base, pedestal. From kun (#3559) to be set upright. Supposedly used in many figurative or non-literal ways, i.e. thus, right, so, honest, etc. BDB admits that the meaning is “sometimes to be elicited from the context.” It represents an upright support, base, or stand. “…the basin and אֶת-his stand [ken].” Ex. 31:9 literal Another word, koh (#3541), is obviously more fitting for thus or so as found in Gen 15:5, 22:5, etc. |
