Genesis 1:7
And elohim is making אֶת-the stamped-space, and he is dividing in between the Dual-Waters who are from underneath into the Stamped-space and in between the Dual-Waters who are from above into the stamped-space,18b and he is becoming an upright.19
19 | Strong’s #3651, ken. Upright, firm, erect, base, pedestal. From kun (#3559) to be set upright. Supposedly used in many figurative or non-literal ways, i.e. thus, right, so, honest, etc. BDB admits that the meaning is “sometimes to be elicited from the context.” That is, made up or guessed. Whether a particle or adverbial word or a noun in many of these places is anyone’s guess. It represents an upright support, or base. “…the basin and אֶת-his stand [ken].” Ex. 31:9 literal Another word, koh (#3541), is obviously more fitting for thus or so as found in Gen 15:5, 22:5, etc. |
