Verse

Ὁ ἔχων τὴν νύμφην, νυμφίος ἐστίν· ὁ δὲ φίλος τοῦ νυμφίου, ὁ ἑστηκὼς καὶ ἀκούων αὐτοῦ, χαρᾷ χαίρει διὰ τὴν φωνὴν τοῦ νυμφίου· αὕτη οὖν ἡ χαρὰ ἡ ἐμὴ πεπλήρωται.

RBT Translation:
The Bride, the Joy of Mine
The one who holds the Bride is the Bridegroom. The Friend, then, of the Bridegroom, the one standing firm and the one who hears himself, with joy rejoices across to the other side to the Voice of the Bridegroom, "She therefore, the Joy of Mine, is filled up!"71
LITV Translation:
The one having the bride is the bridegroom. But the friend of the bridegroom, standing and hearing him, rejoices with joy because of the bridegroom's voice. Then this my joy has been fulfilled.
ESV Translation:
The one who has the bride is the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly at the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore this joy of mine is now complete.

Water is associated with the feminine throughout the Bible. Women drawing water, carrying jars, the Sea, etc. She is filled, or she is poured out; filled or empty. Light is often associated with the masculine, giving rise to the natural context of water and light: photosynthesis. Photosynthesis produces our food and oxygen (air), the fundamental sustenance for life on Earth.
