The Multitude therefore, the one who had stood ready and who has heard, was saying, "Thunder to have become." The different ones were saying, "An angel has chirped to himself."
Julia Smith Literal 1876 Translation:
Then the crowd, having stood and heard, said it was thunder: others said, A messenger has spoken to him.
LITV Translation:
Then standing and hearing, the crowd said that thunder occurred. Others said, An angel has spoken to Him.
ESV Translation:
The crowd that stood there and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to him.”
