RBT Hebrew Literal:
Even I myself,54 had not perceived himself. But rather so that he might be made manifest to the God Straightened ("Israel") because of this, I, myself have come, he who is submerging within water.
Julia Smith Literal 1876 Translation:
And I knew him not: but that he might be manifested to Israel, for this I came immersing in water.
And I knew him not: but that he might be manifested to Israel, for this I came immersing in water.
LITV Translation:
And I did not know Him; but that He be revealed to Israel, for this reason I came baptizing in water.
And I did not know Him; but that He be revealed to Israel, for this reason I came baptizing in water.
ESV Translation:
I myself did not know him, but for this purpose I came baptizing with water, that he might be revealed to Israel.”
I myself did not know him, but for this purpose I came baptizing with water, that he might be revealed to Israel.”
