ἐσκοτώθη describes the action of being made darkened or blind, either literally or figuratively, in a passive sense.

Pass., to be in darkness, suffer from vertigo, like σκοτοδινιάω, Pl. R. 518a, Prt. 339e, Tht. 209e, Thphr. Vert. 7, Plb. 10.13.8; ἕλμινθες -ωθεῖσαι stupefied, Herod.Med. ap. Aët. 9.37, cf. Gal. 16.657.
