Luke 8:12

Οἱ δὲ παρὰ τὴν ὁδόν εἰσιν οἱ ἀκούοντες, εἶτα ἔρχεται ὁ διάβολος καὶ αἴρει τὸν λόγον ἀπὸ τῆς καρδίας αὐτῶν, ἵνα μὴ πιστεύσαντες σωθῶσιν.

Raising Him Up

And the ones close beside the Road are the ones who have heard. At that time the Accuser is coming, and he is lifting/raising up the Word away from the Heart of themselves so that those who have not trusted should be saved.²⁷

Julia Smith Literal 1876 Translation:
And they by the way are they hearing; then comes the devil, and takes away the word from their heart, lest having believed, they should be saved.

LITV Translation:
And those by the roadside are those who hear, then the Devil comes and takes away the Word from their heart, lest believing they may be saved.

αἴρω - to lift up, raise. Raise is the primary meaning. This of course could be construed in a sense as stealing, removing, or taking away. But it is not the common usage. (cf. αἴρω)
